Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about how you should go about comparing plans between several VoIP providers.

What do I need to look for when evaluating one VoIP provider versus another?

It all depends on what you want to achieve. Your first step is to google "Compare VoIP provider." Any of the sites listed there will help you make some comparisons. If price is your most important concern, you'll want to focus on the Ongoing Monthly Fees of each VoIP provider as well as their Long Distance Rates. If voice clarity or the reliability of the service are more important, visit some of the user forums and read what people are saying.

Most of the sites you'll find will allow you to enter your current area code and then they'll return the names of various VoIP providers with a list of plans available for your location.

Most of the sites will have a section on “VoIP Providers Reviews” where you can read (or write) a review.

VoIP providers will offer some or all of the following types of plans: PC-to-Phone, PC-to-PC, Cable Phone Service, Home, Business, and International Calls.

What sorts of features do the different VoIP providers offer? In general, they'll some combination of the following basic features:
